This month security situation was less tense than the previous month, that being said Domestic disputes and criminal incidents were on the rise this month especially in the WB while in the Arab cities in the Israeli controlled areas, crime rates have been steadily going up since the beginning of this year.

The security situation grew increasingly volatile in the region as protests and general strikes continuously took place, while the Palestinian prisoners entered a critical condition and their health deteriorated, especially that a number of prisoners started to refuse water after surviving on salt water since the beginning of the hunger strike.

In 1974, The Palestinian National Council named the 17th of April, the Palestinian Prisoner’s Day. During this day Palestinian protests take place inside and outside the country in support of prisoners held in Israeli jails and protest their ill treatment in addition to demanding their release.
